A Message from Marcia

I live in a state of total amazement. I know life is beautiful, and I believed this as a child and started to create this thing called "Marcia Hines life". I started doing this when I was seven, and I just kept creating the life I had imagined.

I allow my spirit to create my imagination.

I have led a wonderful life.
So many amazing things have happened to me.

I remember getting into a taxi when I arrived at Sydney Airport in 1970. I told the driver where I wanted to go, and he said: "She'll be apples." I thought, "This guy's crazy - I didn't mention any fruit!" It was a brave new world, but you learn to adapt.

Life is about change. Bruce Springsteen once sang: "Things'll knock you down you don't even see coming." But you adapt. You learn to deal with things - with the help of family, friends and music.

I'm a very emotional person, and music is my way of expressing my emotions. Singing is about storytelling, and it's a great feeling being able to move people with song.

I sing because I have been loved.

Music is a gift, and this album is my gift.
I've lived these songs.

My last album, Discotheque, was a celebration.
This album is a different sort of celebration.
Call it a concept album, if you like, it's a celebration of life.
It's about love, loss, family, friends, strength and survival.

There are loads of self-help books out there.
This is a self-help album.
I believe you should share your knowledge and experiences.
Stored knowledge is wasted knowledge.

Everyone's life is remarkable.
This album is about the heroism of everyday life.

I once said: "This is not a rehearsal.
This is my life." And it's true.

I am still a work in progress, but the life that I dreamed of is each day becoming a reality.

I believe that women get better the older they get. Everyone seems to dwell so much on youth, but you get better with age. Life's experiences make you stronger, wiser and more resilient.

A couple of years ago, my good friend George Negus asked if I was a hippie back when I went to Woodstock. I told him: "I still am a hippie." He laughed, but I explained: "I still have the mentality of helping people and being a community."

Call me a "hope junkie".
I still think I can change the world.

And being a musician, I believe the greatest thing you can share is music. This album is for you.
